Chemicals Quality Control Orders

It may be mentioned that BIS standards of majority of chemicals are voluntary in nature. D/o Chemicals & Petrochemicals has initiated to make BIS standards as mandatory for major chemicals, so that both domestic manufacturers and overseas suppliers meet the BIS parameters to ensure adequate safety of human, animal health & protect environment.

Accordingly, the standards of chemicals are being made mandatory and Quality Control Orders (QCOs) are being notified in the Gazette of India with the approval of Competent Authority. The QCO for 33 chemicals have been notified in Gazette so far, for making BIS standard as mandatory, under Section 16 of BIS Act 2016

The status of enforcement date of 33 QCOs in respect of Chemical Tariff lines is as under:
