Chemicals Division

Chemical Division is the one of crucial policy division of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. It is supervised by Shri Deepankar Aron, Joint Secretary (Chemicals). The Chemical Division is being further administered by Shri Kanisk Kant Srivastava, Director, Shri WB Santosh, Director and Shri Anurag Chandra, Deputy Secretary assisted by Under Secretaries/ Section Officers and Consultants.

Work Allocation to the Division

  • Parliamentary matters, PM Gati Shakti, Viksit Bharat projects
  • Viksit Bharat @2047, Chemical safety training modules, Chemical manufacturing hubs, Petroleum, Chemicals, and Petrochemicals Investment Region.
  • Matter related to Chemical Safety, all issues related to Disaster Management, Coordination with NDMA and MHA, Matter related to Chemicals Safety Guidelines,
  • Quality Control Orders and Bureau of Indian Standards issues, Omnibus Chemical Regulation, Minimum Import Price on chemicals,
  • Matters related to Pesticides, Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee, and Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare,
  • Matters related to Health & Safety etc., Addressing issues related to the Chemical Weapons Convention, Records of Chemical Accidents
  • ECHA-PIC notifications from the European Chemicals Agency, International Conventions – Stockholm, Rotterdam. SCOMET proposals and related issues, Narcotics Control Bureau related issues,
  • Budget proposals, New HS Code Proposals, Industries Development Act.
  • Matters related to Dyes and dyes-stuffs products, Chlor-Alkali Circular Economy, Advisory Forum,
  • Environment related issues including Carbon Capture Utilization and storage (CCUS), NITI Aayog-related matters, National Chemical Policy, Other Issues of Chemical industry. Matter related to Investment Promotion Cell, all Foreign Direct Investment-related matters, Data and trend analysis;
  • Matter related to Project Development Cell, matters related to Free Trade Agreements, Indo Pacific Economic Forum,
  • Addresses matters related to Bhopal Gas Disaster Rehabilitation & Welfare Commissioner issues, Chemical Promotion Development Scheme (CPDS),
  • India Chem as well as department events, Research and Development issues, Addressing Make in India initiatives,
  • Public Procurement Matter, Prime Minister's Office Portal for Grievances portal, Matter related to PSUs- HIL, HOCL & HFL.
